Since arriving back from Nepal I’ve been straight back into work on a project with the BBC called ‘Never Give Up’.
It was one of the most enjoyable shows I’ve got to work on yet with the emphasis on the true realities of making it in the professional game of Football.
We followed the dream journey and underdog story of Jamie Vardy, from non league to international stardom. Another premier league star Michail Antonio spoke to us on his rise from non-league all the way to the premier league elite. Michail explained how playing at the lower levels has shaped him as a player and given him the character to succeed.
Also, we spoke to Nadia Nadim of Manchester City, who fled from Iraq as a young girl. Putting her energy into her love of football she has become one of the top female players in the world. Nadia is also studying to be a doctor, such great role model for education aside from just playing the game.
It was fascinating to get an inside look into a premier league academy from Luke Giverin. Luke was part of the Manchester United youth set up from the age of 8, growing up with Jesse Lingard and playing in the youth teams with Paul Pogba. After leaving Manchester United, Luke decided to take a different direction in his career and explains what he learnt growing up and playing at one of the worlds biggest clubs.
The 20 minute show MOTD Kickabout special went out last Saturday but is now on the BBC iPlayer RIGHT HERE!
Hope you enjoy, and remember NEVER GIVE UP!
