Passionate about football from a very young age, John’s story began in his hometown of Preston, Lancashire. After years of playing traditional eleven-a-side he was introduced to futebol de salão – the five-a-side variation of the sport popularised in South America.
From there he began to develop unique skills that would pave the way for his career as a football freestyler – dedicating himself to learning every move he could, even creating his own – starting a new journey, playing a new way.
Years later and John has performed live at FIFA World Cup Finals, the F1 Grand Prix, the Nou Camp and even on Broadway, working shoulder to shoulder with some of the biggest names in football and show business.
John’s alter ego is the CBBC mascot, Farnworth, who has become a regular face on the children’s TV channel as the world’s first football freestyling mascot. Farnworth doesn’t just possess incredible skills, but acts as an all-round entertainer.
As official mascot for the competition, Farnworth has performed at FA Cup games up and down the country and regularly appears on CBBC’s MOTD kickabout – tune in to see where he’ll be next time!
Be a role model.
John is determined to pass down his passion to a new generation of freestylers, working side-by-side with organisations like CBBC to bring his sport to the fore.
Achieve the impossible.
Once John’s mastered one new skill, he’s on to the next, making the impossible possible, bending the laws of physics with just a ball and 100% commitment.
John goes beyond football freestyle to excel as an entertainer, often performing on world stages to captivated audiences in the tens of thousands.
